The Arrogant Worms are a great comedy singing group. However, much of Canada hate Torontonians and this song is a take on that! I've only published the first verse. Note: All photos are of Toronto
I hate the skydome and the CN Tower too
I hate Nathan Phillips Square and the Ontario Zoo
The rents too high, the airs unclean
The beaches are dirty and the people are mean
And the women are big and the men are dumb
And the children are loopy cuz they live in a slum
The water is polluted and the mayor's a dork
They dress real bad and they think they're New York
In Toronto, Ontario
"You know, actually I think I hate all of Ontario"

Hi Lannio
I like the lyrics about Toronto (without agreeing though) and looked Arrogant Worms up on Google.
The first hit lead to their official homepage, but the second really blew me away: the German fan page of this Canadian band!
Oh by the way, do you have any more info about your friends who are boating through France?
What can I say about those Deutsch - they may be serious and timely but many like their humour.
I believe my friends said they were barging in Burgundy, near Beaune and tasting lots of wine along the way. Actually my parents did something similar a few years back and also took a barge tour down the Thames in England. Me? well I have a canoe that I like to paddle!
wow! that sounds just like trashington...lannio...love the mick pic too...we been missing our dale so it nice to have her sister here in the fold aswell..your fab!..
Oh, you're all just jealous.
The Skydome is now the Rogers Centre, Nathan Phillips Square is out of business since we were all amalgamated into one big glorious Greater Toronto (Disaster) Area, it's the Metro Zoo, we got rid of the dorky mayor and replaced him with a blond hunk two elections ago... but everything else is true!!! ;)
I'll have to write the anti-song at some point called (what else?) You're All Just Jealous Because We're More Fabs Than You. ;)
Tongue very firmly in cheek, so please don't hate me,
Anne-Marie
I knew Anne-Marie was going to have a say about this!
I never heard of the group Arrogant Worms, but I will be sure to look them up.
Wow! I'm impressed Gypsy. Mick is my Angus as well as my teenage rebel inspiration. Boy did I ever perplex my parents when I ran around as a teenager singing Mick's Star Star and The Who's Squeeze Box!
Anne-Marie, how can I hate you - but we'll see whether that hunky mayor gets elected for a second time (I helped him get elected the first time).
Arrogant Worms are great. Yeah, they certainly aren't like Mick's group or the Who, but they sure make me laugh more ... and heck, I just live in Toronto I'm not from here :-)
Thanks for making me feel welcome.
Lannio
i can just imagine you doing mick jagger impersonations ..i can do the dance...lol..
If I didn't know better I'd think they hated the city! ;-) Not much of an advertisement for the city and province I've wanted to visit all my life..meep!
When I was at school, Lannio, I did a project about Ontario and Toronto in particular. Have wanted to visit ever since, but never made it..shame, hey...but now we know so many bloggers there, who knows what might happen......
Lannio,
Do you live in Toronto? We'll have to get together, well, once I'm back from all my silly summer travels.
Cheers,
Anne-Marie
Hi again,
yes, we have tickets, but only for the December Toronto show- the others seemed brutally expensive, and I just saw the Who in Berlin (see my mid July post). Nothing is going to come close to that one, so I decided to not even try.
I am coming home in time to start teaching in early September. Staying away right to the last legal minute. :)
Cheers,
AM
Oops, meant to add, are you going to see the Who as well?
